About

Lydia Santix (they/them/she) is an emerging multimedia artist with a specialization in sculpture and multimedia arts. Lydia is located in Peterborough, Ontario and has formal art training from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Their work is fascinated with botany, plant life and the human form, and plays with the relationship that art and nature have in harmony and contrast.

Lydia’s artwork strives to understand what it means to take up space, and how to take up space in an Earth conscious fashion. Their work explores diversity, human expression, disability, queerness, humanity, and emotionality through bold shapes and forms that often intentionally cause discomfort, in order to open doorways to discourse on representation and identity.

Lydia has a diverse style that plays with representational and abstracted forms, often in unison. The use of bold colour choices, and dynamic multimedia combinations are common in their artwork. Lydia is highly skilled in ceramics, metalwork, welding, stone carving, painting, wood carving, wood burning, resin casting, drawing, and installation art.

Lydia also creates Emotional SelfCare kits as a way to use art and body care together therapeutically to create comfort, joy, bliss, and relaxation.

Lydia is grateful for the collaborators, photographers, programmers, and artists who have put their time and effort into the creation of this website.
